- SFTP, key-based
- Email — send us CSV files and receive your documents by email
- Automatic acknowledgements
Orders and other inbound documents arrive as CSV, JSON or a custom layout your system can import, and we take your invoices and other outbound documents the same way — set up as part of onboarding. No EDI software at your end? Email us your invoices as CSV, and we'll email you incoming orders.
E-invoicing mandates
We're following the move to mandatory e-invoicing in the UK and across Europe. We produce UBL 2.1 and Peppol BIS 3.0 invoices and credit notes, validated against the official rules, and deliver them over AS2 or SFTP. We are not a Peppol access point: we advise on e-invoicing and Peppol as part of our consultancy.
Ask about e-invoicingStandards and network names are used to describe compatibility. Third-party company and product names are trademarks of their respective owners; InterchangeGate is not affiliated with or endorsed by them. Each partner's exact requirements are confirmed during onboarding.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
What counts as a message?
Each business document (an order, invoice or despatch note) counts once. Each flow includes 250 messages a month; extra messages are £5 / €6 per 100, rounded up to the next 100. Acknowledgements and receipts are free.
How quickly can we be onboarded?
Connection and mapping are ready within 5 working days of receiving your partner's specification. Most of the remaining time is each trading partner's testing process: we exchange test messages with them, fix any mapping differences and only then switch to live. Testing timelines are set by your trading partner.
Will it work with our ERP?
Yes, through files rather than plug-ins. Inbound orders are delivered as structured files (CSV, JSON or a custom layout matched to what your system imports, built during setup) that your ERP or its import tools can read, and we pick up your invoices the same way, over SFTP. We do not install anything inside your ERP (SAP, Sage, NetSuite, Xero or others). For direct API or ERP integration, talk to us about EDI consultancy.
We already use another EDI provider or a VAN. How does switching work?
1. We review your current partners, message types and volumes. 2. We set up connections and mappings and test them while your current provider keeps running. 3. Each partner is switched over on an agreed date, one at a time. 4. You keep your current provider until the last partner has moved, so nothing is missed.
What happens when a message fails?
It is flagged in the portal's Error Inspector with the exact validation error and the original file, so the cause is clear and the message can be corrected and processed again.
Can we exchange documents by email?
Yes. You can email us documents such as invoices as CSV attachments, and we can email you the documents your partners send, such as orders, as CSV. Your trading partners connect over AS2 or SFTP.
Do you support e-invoicing (UBL or Peppol)?
We produce UBL 2.1 and Peppol BIS 3.0 invoices and credit notes, validated against the official rules, and deliver them over AS2 or SFTP. We are not a Peppol access point; we advise on e-invoicing and Peppol, including how to connect to the network, as part of our consultancy.
Do you use AI?
Yes. We use Claude, from Anthropic, to help build and maintain the service and to help prepare mappings. It is one of the reasons our costs stay low. Customer data is anonymised wherever possible before any AI use, model training is switched off, and Anthropic is listed as a sub-processor. A person reviews all AI-assisted work, and you approve each mapping sheet before a flow goes live. Your live messages are translated by our own software on our UK servers.
What support do we get?
Email support, Monday to Friday, 09:00–17:00 UK time, with a first reply within 1 business day (within 4 business hours when all messages on a flow are failing). These are targets, not guarantees; see our support policy.
Where is our data stored?
Hosted in the UK (Oracle Cloud, London) on isolated containers, with data encrypted in transit and at rest. Each customer's data and folders are kept separate, so your users only ever see your own partners' traffic.
SAP, Sage, NetSuite and Xero are trademarks of their respective owners; InterchangeGate is not affiliated with or endorsed by them.
